Oscar Gold

Did you catch the Oscars last night? The celebs were out in style...and no Grammy-esque memo needed...private parts were seemingly on lock down.

It seems that, overall, most played it pretty safe. I definitely saw some lovely dresses, but nothing that really surprised me (a la Gwyneth Paltrow's white cape gown from last year).

Before we get to my three faves...I must note that I really did not enjoy Anne Hathaway's pink Prada gown. Worst dart placement. Ever. See for yourself.

Nipplegate aside, here are my top three faves of last night's ceremony...

Kerry Washington in Miu Miu. Not a designer you see too often on the red carpet, but this gown's bodice detail and coral-red color are incredible.

Naomi Watts in Armani Prive. How amazing is this dress?

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior Haute Couture and *the best* makeup and hair. Total beauty. Did she steal JLo's makeup artist for the night?

Honorable mentions include...Catherine Zeta Jones, Jessica Chastain and Charlize Theron!

Whose gowns did you love?

Fabulous Freakin' Friday: Hunger Games Premiere!

Are you excited for the Hunger Games, because I am. If you haven't read the books - do eet! The LA premiere showcased some gorgeous fashions and is the basis of today's Fabulous Freakin' Friday!

First up, Jennifer Lawrence in Prabal Gurung. Um...gorgeous! That shiny gold can't be easy to wear, but girlfriend is *killing* it! The back is edgy, the fit perfection and the hair and makeup is golden and a bit undone. Love it.

Elizabeth Banks in Atelier Versace. This tangerine color is the bombdotcom. Her simple hair and makeup let the dress shine and I love the nude sandals to elongate the leg line. She looks fresh and pretty.

Leslie Mann in Monique Lhuillier jumper. While Leslie isn't in the film, she looked chic at the premier. I love the gold epaulets on the shoulders and the streamlined fit of the jumper. It's the perfect ensemble to attend a premiere as a guest, not a featured actor or director of the film.

That's today's Fabulous Freakin' Friday - hope everyone has a great weekend! Happy St. Patty's Day!

Golden Globes Dress Review!

Hey everyone! Hope you had a great weekend. I'm currently in a work conference most of the week, but I did get a chance to peruse through the Golden Globe gown photos last night...

While you can make groups of gowns to go on forever, here are a few trending gown types I saw...some in multiple categories, of course!
  1. Sequin explosion: Angelina Jolie, Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman, Olivia Wilde, Sandra Bullock, Melissa Leo, Carrie Underwood
  2. One shoulder sweeping gowns: Amy Adams, Lea Michelle, Julianne Moore, Mila Kunis
  3. Minimalist: Emma Stone, Claire Danes
  4. Backless/bare back: Eva Longoria, Emma Stone,  Anne Hathaway
  5. Popular shades: Pale pink, Green, Blue, Red, White, Black
And here are some of my favorite gowns overall:

Angelina Jolie: This emerald green Atelier Versace is stunning, IMO. So nice to see her in something other than black or a muted neutral. I'm really adoring this shade with her coloring, too.

Sandra Bullock: While I'm not diggin' the super heavy bangs on Sandra's gorgeous face, I love this Jenny Packham gown. It's a classic drape but also has tons of visual interest.

Jennifer Lawrence: I'm not incredibly familiar with her work (she was nominated for Winter's Bone) but girlfriend turned.it.out. in this Louis Vuitton dress. Ruffles can be super overpowering but the corseted fit and slit in this dress make it fresh.

Mandy Moore: You don't see Mandy Moore frolicking along the red carpet too often, so it's lovely to see her in this Monique Lhuillier stunner. I love the frothy tulle and the fit of this dress.

Anne Hathaway: This Armani Prive is just gorgeous on Anne Hathaway. Kudos to Rachel Zoe for styling - keeping Anne fresh faced and fuss free in this heavy gown.

With so many gorgeous dresses, who do you think looked the best?
