New Year, New Stitch Fix

It's the new year and time for a new Stitch Fix, January style!

This month, the fine folks at Stitch Fix sent out some great transitional pieces that can easily bring me from "winter" (I use quotations because Charlotte's winters are usually super mild) to spring! Here's what this month's fix had in store for me...

1) Lovemarks teal Ellen top, Stitch Fix price: $42

Riley was dying to get in the shot, so I figured it was fitting to give him center stage. Anywho, yes, this top...I love the ease of it and the funky tribal print. My issue with mullet tops? (i.e. mullet top = short in front, longer in the back) They are not super flattering on ladies who are packing a bit more in the chest area. Who wants to look heavier than she is? Not me.

What's that I see?! Silver, stretchy tank with a beige sheer back? Yes, please. This tank is uber comfy and the length is great to wear with straight jeans or tuck into a cute pair of shorts. One issue with this item? The arm holes were pretty deep and if I don't layer a tank under this item, you're going to see bra. 

3 & 4) Theme Graham zipper dress, Stitch Fix price: $86 & Marilyn Schiff silver mini disc necklace, Stitch Fix price: $40

Citizens Avedon jeggings, House of Harlow boots

This sweater dress was much more tunic like than dress like. This would have been incredibly skankerific without jeggings or leggings. Regardless, I loved the zipper detail and sleeve button additions. However, this dress is pretty boxy on my and doesn't nip in at the waist like I would prefer. For all those expecting ladies, this is a pretty awesome choice and it leaves much room for growth, if you know what I mean.

5) Theme Stanly ruched dress, Stitch Fix price: $75

Soooo...my camera konked out on my for this last item, but it's a cute ruched dress that would be pretty flattering on most! Perfect for cocktail hour or a casual rehearsal dinner. Plus, if you have a cute vest, it would look smashing with this dress. Here's an image of the dress at Piperlime so you can see the front.

Stitch Fix: December Poncho Fun

This month's Stitch Fix, while fun, just did not fit me very well. A for effort, C for execution.

4/5 items were either too big or too long. However, I did keep the RD Style Side Button Knit Poncho which I have received oodles of compliments on.

Does it feel blanket-esque? Sure. Is it soft? Yes. Do I want to live in it? Absolutely. Considering the size of this fun item, I paired in with black jeggings and motorcycle boots, a la the set below.

November Stitch Fix Fabulousness

Oh pipe dreams...I really didn't want to shop for myself this month! But wow, Stitch Fix really hit it out of the park this month! Let's go shopping, shall we? Seems like the theme of this month's fix was chic zippers...!

First up, Ark &Co. grey zipper moto jacket. Size: Small. Stitch Fix price: $80

October Stitch Fix Satisfaction

Happy Monday to all! Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.

On Thursday, my dear husband walked into the house with the mail...and my Stitch Fix! Of course I galloped down the stairs and ripped open the package faster than I devour a brownie sundae. Ok, maybe not. But close.

If you're not familiar with Stitch Fix, an amazing, deliver-fashion-to-your-door website, check out this post for all the info and referral details.

This month, I was sent three tops, one dress and one necklace. And since last month I was a bit stingy on the photos, I hope I made up for it below! Please be kind...my makeup and hair are a bit rough after a super busy day.

First up, a rust colored, silk Jaloux tank. Size: Small. Stitch Fix price: $80

I adored the color of this lightweight, silky tank and appreciated the sheer topper racer back. My only issue was the fit...as I have a bit more up top, this top made me look like I was with child. However, it looked pretty sweet belted!

Second, a beautiful taupe Line & Dot sleeveless top. Size: Small. Stitch Fix price: $88

I love the cut of this tank, but it was a bit short on my torso. The feel was great too - incredibly soft and I loved the mix of fabrics. The back is super cute too. The necklace shown above was also included in this month's fix, price: $50.


Third, a mint colored Glam maxi dress. Size: Small. Stitch Fix price: $65

I was giddy when I pulled this out of my package. Even though it has a silky feel, this dress is machine washable. Score! The color was super pretty and there are tons of ways to dress this piece up or down. Length was fine for me with 3" wedges (I'm 5'2"). I don't know how crazy I am about the dress neckline, but I liked everything else. 

Last, a black silk beaded Greylin top. Size: Small. Stitch Fix price: $115

This top is not only incredible soft, silky (duh) and pretty but it's also super versatile! I was a bit unsure of the cut - it's asymmetrical and ties at the lower left, but I loved it with jeggings and heels. I can imagine even tucking it in, too. The beaded is well done...just have to be cautious when it's brought to the dry cleaners!

Stitch Fix: Shopping To My Doorstep

So, a few weeks back one of my colleagues told me about Stitch Fix. My ears perked up when I heard about customized fashion delivered to your doorstep. A kind of Birchbox for your closet, but you send back whatever clothing items you don't like. Free shipping both ways. For serious.

Could it be true?! Indeed it is. This sweet startup is making waves with their (IMO) brilliant shopping experience. How does it work? Here you go...

1. Head to Stitch Fix and sign up. The site and Twitter handle state that using this referral link to move your name up the list! You may have to wait a few weeks as they're growing like crazy.

2.  Stitch Fix will then email you a detailed survey regarding your style, sizes and approximate price points you spend on various items...dresses, jackets, sweaters, accessories, etc.

3.  After your data is compiled, you'll be asked to send a one-time $20 payment via Paypal to start your Stitch Fix account. This $20 credit is applied to your first Stitch Fix (your first monthly box of clothing/fashion). If you end up sending everything back, that one $20 credit is forfeited. Otherwise, it's applied to whatever you purchase that month.

4.  A few weeks later, your first Stitch Fix will arrive! Some pics of my first box below - not the highest quality of photos. It included two dresses, one sweater, one blouse and one bangle. They definitely read through my survey in regards to my sizes, style and preferred price points. I kept an awesome Line and Dot top with a fab asymmetrical hem. I would have also kept the BB Dakota dress, had I not *just* bought it! How's that for using the knowledge gleaned through the survey?! Each garment is also tagged with some Stitch Fix suggestions on ways to wear each item and info about the brands.

5.  You keep what you want from the box and send back what you don't by the following Monday. Yes, they give you a prepaid shipping enveloped to send anything back that you don't want! Notes: 25% off the total price if you want to keep all five items in your Stitch Fix. As a whole, prices were fairly competitive with most shopping websites and retail locations.

6.  Every box comes with a survey where you can give feedback on the style, fit and price. This info, I imagine, is crucial to the folks at Stitch Fix. The point is to learn from what you like and don't like and improve their picks with each delivery.

7.  So, what types of brands does Stitch Fix send you? Obviously, it depends on your style, tastes and price points, but expect mid-range brands like BB Dakota, Greylin, Charlie Jade, Velvet Heart, Line and Dot and more. You can also check them out on their website, blog, or Twitter.
