Product Review: L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Eye Pencil, A

Hey all! Hope everyone had a grrrreat weekend!

Up for review today is a really great product that I stumbled upon while seeking out a new, basic eyeliner in Walgreens: L'Oreal Extra-Intense Liquid Eye Pencil. This little glider retails for $5-$7 in most drugstores and comes in black, brown and one other shade that I didn't spy at my particular location. Grey, green? Not sure...

Deets from L'Oreal:

Now get the gliding application, intense look, and longwear of a liquid eyeliner with the easy application and control of a pencil.
  • Rich, dramatically bold lines.
  • Pencil formula glides on smoothly and easily.
  • Smudge-proof, all-day wear.
  • Ophthalmologist tested.
  • Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.
Made in Germany
  • Apply along lashline starting from inner corners of eye working outwards.
  • For a smokey look, gently smudge line with finger or brush applicator.
  • Removes easily with soap and water or with Clean Artiste Waterproof and Long Wearing Eye Makeup Remover.
And my review...

The Good: Supa' smooth application and it stays ALL day (especially when you apply some time of base). The color is rich and long lasting.

The Bad: Not too much to report here...you may need to use actual makeup remover to remove the remnants.

The Verdict: A all the way! Per above, this is a stellar liner, especially for the price. An absolute re-buy for me in the future!

WTF Friday: That's An Interesting Cheetah

Happy Friday to all!

Today's WTF Friday is just one offender...Ms. Katy Perry...

Splash News Online
Umm...Katy....that's quite a cheetah on your chest, girlfriend. I love me some animal print but this ensem is fug-tastic. Plus, what's with the Rainbow Bright hair?! Katy is such a cute girl but she puts together the most random assortment of duds. WTF, Katy, you are not a Cheetah girl.

Craving On The Cheap: Foray Into Forever21

Hey all! So...it's pretty easy to get caught up in the cheap fare at Forever21. I do, so I get it. You get the shiny ball syndrome, but with uber trendy clothing. And while I (and probably many of you) don't expect their pieces to last more than a season or two, it's always nice to pick up a few super trendy pieces to bolster a solid wardrobe.

Below is a set of a few items that I'm currently craving from the affordable site...where do you indulge in the cheapies?!

Product Review: Tarte Peaches & Cream Foundation, C

Happy Monday to all!

Now that I'm back from vacay (a wonderful week in Charleston) it's back to blogging!

Up for review today is Tarte's Peaches & Cream foundation. I bought this little product off of Gilt.com on the cheap, as it retails for $35 on the Tarte website.

Details from the product site:

Apply this velvety confection when you want to hide imperfections and create a perfectly smooth canvas.

The vitamin-enriched formula goes on like a dream and dries to a soft, powdery finish that’s just peachy.

It also offers SPF 20 - which I'm a big fan of.

And here's my review:

The Good: It does indeed make your skin velvety...and as mentioned I'm happy with the SPF 20 and oil free product.

The Bad: Bummer...this product dulled my skin and made me look zombie-esque. (And it's the correct shade) Speaking of that there are only three shades to choose from. Woof.

The Verdict: C from me. I really wanted to dig this product, but it just made me look ashy and dull. Definitely not a rebuy for me as I prefer a more luminous foundation.

Cubicle to Cocktails: Red & Black and Grey All Over

Happy Thursday to all! Today's edition of Cubicle to Cocktails features one of my favorite color combinations, grey and red. This particular dress shown below is such a great shape - I have a similarly cut dress that I scored form Macy's a while back. Assuming this dress cuts a bit above the knees, I imagine it's super versatile.

For both office wear and cocktail hour, the red heels add a perfect pop of color. I also like the addition of the rougher accessories for the evening drinkies.

What do we think, friends, are you all fans of the grey and red?!

Currently Craving: Tolani Tunics

So, I realize that this is a complete juxtaposition to my boot post from earlier this week but I am straight up in love with Tolani tunics.

My lovely mother bought me this little number for my bday a few months ago and I have been wearing the crap out of it.

Tolani at ShopStyle

Tolani makes an amazing tunic - great prints (that I thought I could never wear), light silk fabric and just the perfect summer throw on. I definitely want to add to my Tolani collection, as I can see the fall colored tunic with leggings and boots. Yay for transitional pieces! I made a personal ShopStyle with some of my fave Tolanis that I'm a 'cravin...

Falling Forward: Fall Boots Less Than $100

Hey there! Hope everyone enjoyed a great weekend!

Although it's 1,000 degrees out right now, I am already thinking about fall. It's my fave season and I love chunky knits, leather boots and skinnies. I would also love to skip pedicures a bit more often and put my feet back into socks. But that's for another day...

To celebrate my love for boots and for fall I handpicked a bunch of boots that I'm crushin' on. And the kicker - all of them are less than $100. (and some of them are authentic leather - woot!)

Are you excited for fall?!

WTF Friday: Oy...

Yay for Friday, folks! Up for WTF-dom today...some very special ensembles.

So, first up is the very interesting Ke$ha.

Um, right. Blue lipstick and drawn on arm bands is interesting. WTF, Kesha? You're a cute girl with a hit album...no need for the shenanigans.

And then we have the typically stunning Heidi Klum.

Now I'm all for a fresh face, minimalist look especially for daytime...but oh Heidi...girlfriend this dress makes you look huge. And we all know you are not. That makes it even worse. Step it up, gorgeous.

Cubicle to Cocktails: Silken Brights

Hey everyone! Hope y'all are having a great week!

Up for Cubicle to Cocktails today is a really beautiful silk top from (gasp) Spiegel. Yup, Spiegel. The magenta silk tunic is embellished at the sleeves and offers a beautiful tie back. I adore this shade and really think it could be lovely for both cubicle and cocktails. The white blazer looks super fresh against this bright shade and would look equally as adorable with the rolled denim.

So friends, what do we think? Spiegel, who knew?!

Clothing Review: Sanctuary "Peace" Skinny Cargos

Hi all! Happy Monday! Instead of my typical product review, I wanted to toss up a new clothing review of an item I aquired at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

Sanctuary "Peace" Skinny Cargos retail for $118 I grabbed them at the Nordstrom Anniversary sale for $78.

Deets from the Nordies website:

A coordinating belt wraps the waist of subtly distressed, stretch-twill cargo pants updated with a modern, skinny-leg silhouette. Zip fly with double-button closure.

Button-detailed front pockets; welt coin pocket; hidden snap-flap cargo pockets; back button-flap pockets.

Approx. inseam: 31".

Cotton/spandex; machine wash.

By Sanctuary; imported.

t.b.d.

My review...

The Good: Super flattering, really comfortable and well made! I went with onyx color as it will go with so many options in my closet. A great, versatile and trendy piece for fall and winter.

The Bad: Sizing can be a bit off as these run 1/2 - 1 size large. Normally I'm a 26/27 in most jeans and I took a 26 in these with a bit of room. And while $78 ($118 now) isn't horrible for a well made pair of pants, these cargos are a super trendy item. Oh and just toss the belt, it's fug.

The Verdict: A- for me, the only reason I threw the minus up there is because of the cost per wear (trendy item). I never thought skinny cargos would look flattering on me, but these absolutely do!
