Product Review: Elnett Satin Stronghold Hairspray, B

Hey friends! Hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend (if you celebrated) or at least blew up a few Peeps in the microwave. Either way...

Up for a product review today is Elnett's Stronghold hairspray. I've been meaning to try out this product for a long, long time but hesitated because I love Bumble & Bumble's spray de mode oh so much. So I finally took the plunge and forked over the $13 or $14 for the 11 oz. can.

L'Oreal at ShopStyle

Details from L'Oreal (Elnett):
Elnett Satin is the legendary hairspray of choice for red carpet events and cover photo shoots. Its micro diffuser spray offers a clean, soft shiny finish. So fine, it disappears at the stroke of a brush. So strong its hold lasts all day.

And my review:

The Good: The hold is nice and light, shiny and strong. In terms of the performance of the hairspray this product is similar to B&B's spray de mode, if not a wee bit lighter.

The Bad: It smells like baby powder. Strong, strong baby powder. Yowza.

The Verdict: B for me. It's a very lightweight hairspray and although the hold didn't stay all day for me, it lasted quite a while. It seems like a great product for lightly holding waves, curls, etc.

Jean-ious

Jeans. Jeeeeeeeeeans. I love jeans. I'm a self-professed jean ho. While there are a few brands I really, really love (Joe's, J Brand, Citizens, AG) I'm happy to try them all. I've especially been crushing on super flares (today's bell bottoms). J Brand makes some incredible Lovestory flares, as does AG with their Farrah jeans - but I'm always looking to expand my denim repertoire.

From the lovely Chloe I got a little extra nudge to go and try on GAP's super flares. Zomg. I am in love. But I didn't pull the trigger...yet. I was hoping to snag them online, but I don't see the 1969 super flares that I saw in store. So, in case you see those - grab em, they're pretty great! They have just enough stretch to feel snug and comfy but also retain a great bell shape at the bottom.

So, this trip to Gap got me thinking...what other great flares are out there? What are your fave flares? Do tell...

Product Review: Zoya Caitlin Nail Polish, A-

Why hello, Monday...you arrived quickly. Hope everyone is doing well! Today's product review is from my April Birchbox - Zoya's Caitlin Nail Polish.

Yup - Birchbox included a mini Caitlin polish in the April box and I couldn't wait to paint it on my (very short) fingernails!

About Zoya Nail Polish:

Zoya Nail Polish has been awarded as the longest wearing natural nail polish by an independent panel in Women’s Health Magazine. Zoya Nail Polish is a nail polish free of toluene, formaldehyde, DBP (phthalates) and camphor. Nail Polish by Zoya offers over 300 gorgeous nail polish colors to choose from, plus 4 seasonal collections of nail polish every year. Zoya Nail Polish was specifically formulated to deliver the longest wear possible on natural nails. Zoya Nail Polish can be found in better beauty salons, spas and online at www.zoya.com.

Color Description of Zoya Nail Polish Caitlin

Zoya Nail Polish in Caitlin can be best described as: Smoky purple-tinged medium gray with smooth, opaque creme finish. Sultry, mysterious and impossibly chic, a shade that will have everyone intrigued.

Color Family: Purples or Greys

Finish: Cream

Intensity: 5 ( 1=Sheer - 5=Opaque )

Tone: Cool

Original Collection: Intimates

And my review:

The Good: This is such a fun, but still subtle, spring shade! Zoya's polish wears pretty well and (in my opinion) chips less than OPI. I'm also a big, big fan that all of their polishes are free of nasty ingredients. Each regular size bottle retails for $8, too!

The Bad: This particular polish, albeit quite opaque, wasn't quite as smooth as my other Zoya polish (Riley). Regardless, the second coat solidified the shade and did away with any streakiness I encountered during the first go around.

The Verdict: A- from me! While the application was a bit cumbersome, I love the color and the brand.

Do Ya Dig It?

On occasion I'll see a few trends pop up on celebs and, with my head cocked to the side, sometimes I have to think about if I dig it or despise it. Here's a few that I've seen of late...

All white ensemble a la Cameron Diaz (let's not even get into the suspender action)...

Kevin Mazur/WireImage
Or how about Drew Barrymore's new auburn locks?

Michael Williams/Startraks
Menswear suiting as formal wear...as seen on Annalynne McCord...

Paul Morigi/WireImage
Nude dresses...Julianne Hough is one of the many sportin' this look...

What do you think? I think each of these looks can be super fab or super fug depending on the styling.

Do ya dig it or despise it?

Product Review: MAC Lustering Lipstick, A

Oh lippies. Lipsticks. Lipglosses. Lip sheers. Lip balms. I have so many and I love them all. Therefore, today's product review centers around a new MAC lippie that I have been positively crushing on - Lustering!

Perfect for summer, this sheer yet punchy pink with a hint of coral is just lovely. I imagine it would work on many a skin tone and looks great dressed up with additional bronze tones or all by its lonesome with a fresh face.

A very unexciting, and fairly grainy photo of Lustering on me!

Some deets from MAC...

LUSTRE (L): Demi-sheer with wet-look lustre finish. Very slick. Makes lips look soft, smooth, ultra-moist.

And my review:

The Good: I love this shade on my skintone. It's just perfect for a bright wisp of color without too much drama for your mama. It glides on smoothly and there's a fair amount of pigment with just a few swipes.

The Bad: Some may say the $14.50 price tag is a bit steep, but in this instance, I think it's worth it.

The Review: A all the way on this one. If you're looking for a fab summer shade with just a bit of punch, MAC's Lustering fits the bill very nicely.

Do or Do Not: Jumpsuits?

Yep, full length jumpsuits. I've been watching more and more celebs and pretty peeps sport these grown up onesies and, to be honest, I'm diggin' it. Here are a few I think are worn exceptionally well...

The fit, fabric and tailoring are spot on for these gorgeous ladies.

And a few that didn't quite hit the mark...

That's an abundance of volume for Kourtney Kardashian. I appreciate the '70s throwback but it looks a bit too campy.

And we've talked about this one already. Really not going to going to go into Leighton's lace jumpsuit. Just because it's Marchesa doesn't make it appropriate for, um, anything.

So, will you jump into a jumpsuit this spring or summer? Any you have your eye on?

When you're sick...

Very few things look, feel or taste cute. So, since I haven't been feeling so hot, here's a cheery set of shopping fun to boost my spirits, and hopefully yours. Hopefully I'll be back in action in a few days and blogging away...

Fabulous *Yet Freaky* Friday

Happy Friday, friends! It's been a helluva week, and I can't wait to get to the weekend.

Up on tap today are a few ladies who surely look fabulous...but there's a bit of a twist to their looks. Let's start, shall we?!

First up, Miranda Kerr. As if we didn't have enough reasons to covet - she's stunning, great bod, baby by Orlando Bloom, etc. Yeah, and she looks like this 3 months after giving birth to an almost 10 lb. baby:

Oh, and just for the record, ladies, I'm not purporting that we should all look like this pre or post baby, 3 weeks or 3 years. I'm saying it's mind boggling. Wowza.

And next is Zoe Kravitz. Yes, the stunning child of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet looks like a perfect mish mash of both of her parents. Equally stunning, no?

And last but not least, Fergie Ferg.

Woah, Fergie - I mean, way to work it out, but I feel as if your boobs are about to punch you in da face. Take it easy - let those sisters breathe!

That's all I got today, folks! Happy weekend!
