Shopping On The Cheap: Target Goodies
I'm sure many of you know the drill. You head into Target for paper towels and a birthday card and you leave with six bags...full of things you wanted but didn't really need. Well, allow me to streamline that for you with a handful of picks from Target.

Cap That!
I've been spying a whole lot of cappin' going on. Cap toe heels, that is. Various shades from ombre effects to super shiny gold capped black pumps. And I like it.
I especially like when said cap pumps are showcased with ankle length trousers, a smart top and a slightly more structured bag. Proper lady style with a bit of sass. I'm especially craving a capped wedge...there's a goodie at ASOS that you can spy below.
And even though I haven't been sporting too many heels as of late, I'm really digging the options available. With the weather turning, you can even cap that with a super cute boot.

Currently Craving: Kick Ass Ankle Boots
I recently scored a pair of flat, black leather ankle boots that make me look like I fo sho own a Harley. I like them. A lot. I'm very much looking forward to sporting said ankle boots with my skinny (maternity) jeans and some long tunics in just a few weeks when the weather will finally turn acceptable enough to *not* sweat through my pantalones. Mmm think about ribbed tights, sweater dresses and luxe knits. Drool.

Currently Craving: Shopping The Limited
It all started with a coupon. At least that what my aunt says. And it's true. I was having a nice lunch with my mom, aunt and grandmother when my aunt needed to "quickly pop in" The Limited to use some of her bonus bucks she had acquired over the past few weeks. Let's just say it wasn't a quick pop...all of us left with a bag...even grandma.
For me, The Limited is hit or miss. Sometimes I'll find a variety of cute blousy tops to wear with skinny jeans, a smattering of perfect belt and a nice selection of transition wear (work-ish to cocktail hour). Other times I'll completely strike out. However, as of late, I was pretty impressed with what's happening in store.
One big note to make - in my opinion, The Limited's sizing is all over the place. Typically tops run large. But not always. Thus, you have to try everything on. Le sigh. Part of the game, I guess. Here are a few unquestionably cute items I spied at Limited over the weekend...happy shopping, all!

Summa Summa Tiiiiiiime Cravings
It's hot. And hawt. In celebration of the heat (that sounds more than enthusiastic), I've been perusing the interwebs for the trifecta of summer fun: beach bags, sunglasses and sun hats! While I should also add a slew of sunscreen and bathing suits to that list, I'll just tackle the former three as of today...and every item is less than $100.
Beach bags: I like those that are washable, aren't "open weave" (not a fan of sand in my band) and are easy to carry. Like dees ones...
Sunglasses: I know so many ladies who will drop some serious coin on sunnies. That's great - because those sunglasses are typically great looking pieces of fashion. The problem I have is that I often lose, sit on or "misplace" my sunglasses. Not cool when you're dropping $300-$400 on a pair of Oliver Peoples. Thus, the inspiration for the set below.
Hats: Cover your noggin, ladies! I'm very much into the types of hats that are crushable. Literally. If I can smush it into a beach bag or suitcase and it pops out unscathed, that's a winner. I'm personally going to be searching for the perfect fedora as I have a pretty fantastic (crushable) floppy hat from Urban Outfitters from last summer.

Currently Craving: Coobies
Whenever I hear about those do-it-all products, I become instantly skeptical. Even though I'm enthralled with infomercials, I've never really acted on them. Beyond the Magic Bullet...that teeny blender and chopper is pretty sweet. But I digress.
Anywho, a while back I picked up a Coobie at a local Charlotte boutique. It rhymes with boobies, so that makes me giggle. I have to think that the brilliant people behind this product named it so on purpose. Or at least I hope they did. Here's what scoopneck Coobie looks like:

Currently Craving: Tangerine Jeans (dammit, Kate Middleton)
Oh Kate Middleton. Whatever you wear is going to be news, whether it's a hoodie or a ball gown. But she really amped up the air waves when she sported a pair of "tangerine skinny jeans" a few weeks back while in London visiting the women's Olympic field hockey team.
Normally I'm not one to go all monkey see, monkey do, but as soon as I saw a picture of these jeans on Ms. Middleton I was all over it. Yes, my crazy little brain said, you NEED a pair of skinny jeans just like that for spring and summer. Just imagine how many ensembles you'll be able to put together around those magical jeans.
So I did it. I bought some tangerine jeans (well, pants). An affordable pair, I might add. I shopped around and snagged BB Dakota's Maddox pants in Poppy from Karmaloop.com.
My thoughts? I like them. Do they fit as well as a pair of JBrand skinnies? Not really, but with this bright of a shade, I'm happy with them. They stretch, they flatter and they fit. And what to wear with them you may ask? Let me count the ways...

Currently Craving: Pale Pink
A few weeks back I caved into a spring trend and purchased a pair of pale pink skinnies. Why? Well, I thought they were pretty. And I'm really diggin' the pale pink and blush tones.
I've never been the "I love pink everywhere, all the time, let's swim in pinky tones" kinda girl. However, I really think I can get some mileage out of my light pink denim. Want to jump on the pale pink skinny bandwagon? My advice: Don't buy them too tight. This color is just a few shades off of white...and no one needs to be sporting uber tight, light colored pantalones. I don't care how sweet your legs are.
Even beyond the denim, pale pink is poppin' up everywhere. My next crush is a sheer, pale pink or blush bow blouse....

Currently Craving: Capes!
Jacket weather is starting to arrive. Hell to the yeah. But in addition to coats, sweaters, jackets, and scarves, I am really digging capes this year! No, not Superman sized capes, but lady like capes, capelets, etc.
I actually prefer the more casual cape sweaters and jackets instead of the fancy pants fur and velvet varieties. They're much more versatile, comfortable and current!

Currently Craving: Rainy Day Fashion
Ah, rainy days. The smell of rain, the slick pavement...the perfect backdrop for an afternoon nap. However, rain can throw a wrench into my ensembles, so I'm always on the lookout for great looking raincoats and boots..that don't cost an arm and a leg.
Frankly, I have a bit of beef with umbrellas. For one, I always forget to bring one with me or leave one in my car. Also, I just don't know what to do with it once I arrive at said dry location. Overall, I just find them to be a bit of a pain in the ass.
Therefore, I usually veer towards a rain jacket/anorak/coat that's both waterproof and offers a hood. Cute little raingear is right up my alley. So, below is an abbreviated set of some rainy day gear I'm pouring over.
What do you think? What do you sport when it's raining away?

Ah, fall. You're within reach. With Charlotte mornings dipping into the low-mid '50s, I am welcoming fall with open arms.
The quintessential fall item...a blazer. Or a jacket. Whatever you want to call it, this chic little number transforms jeans and a tee into a much more structured look. Or toss on a hot little blazer over a fitted dress and bam...you're ready for a cocktail.
I'm really enjoying the mix of fabrics and colors that I've been seeing for fall jackets...tons of jewel tones, rich reds, nubby wools, fun tweeds, leather. All of these perfect to cinch that waist and sport in a myriad of ways.
Here are a few of my faves...do share some of yours! I'm particularly loving the middle plaid blazer from Anthropolgie...mmmhmm.

I love birthdays. Especially when it's my birthday. Go ahead and judge me, but it's a great excuse to put on a fun frock, consume excessive amounts of cake and bask in the glow of goodies. Plus, people are generally much, much nicer to you on your birthday.

Looking Ahead - Summer 2011
Even though Charlotte experienced a cold-ish snap this past weekend (highs in the 40's), I'm thinkin' of summer. Shorts and silk tops, bright bags and bold colors. Bring.It.On. Soon, please!
With this in mind, I've started creating a summer wishlist for myself...focusing on the items that will round out my closet (especially since I now work from home). I have no need for work pants and tailored suits! Hooray.

- A bold bag: Green, deep cerise, bright blue or another fun hue. Leather please and nothing I can physically fit into. I like large bags, but it doesn't have to be the size of a suitcase.
- White flares - denim: I'm diggin' J Brand's Lovestory, but I'm open to trying on a few.
- Wedges: Of all kinds. Espadrilles. Cork. Jute. I'll take 'em all.
- Easy, transitional pieces: Includes a denim jacket, silk tops and tunics that can easily move from day to night with the right accessories.
- Maxi skirt: We've been here already. Still on the prowl for a perfectly fitting maxi skirt. Or two. Or three.

Currently Craving: Trove TKEES Leather Flip Flops
I do not have pretty feet. I'll just throw that out there. I have the tiniest toe nails on the planet (seriously they look like little Chiclets) and from the myriad of exercise and running I engage in, my feet just aren't so hot. So, anything that makes my feet/legs look even remotely attractive and is comfortable = a total win in my book.
When I popped into new, local Charlotte boutique Coral I was in awe of the incredible items they had in the shop but also fell in love with TKEES. These slim, super comfy and simple leather flip flops are perfection for summer. They come in a variety of finishes, offer many shades (both nude colors and brights) and are a dressier option when Havianas just won't cut it. While they seem a bit pricey for a pair of flips ($45-$50), I imagine the cost per wear will be ridiculously low. I plan to pretty much live in these.
If you're purchasing online, go with your regular size or a bit larger as they run a tiny bit on the small side. i.e. I'm usually a 7.5 or 8 and the 8 fits just right (full sizes only, btw). While TKEES isn't selling on their website yet, it looks like it will happen very soon. In the meantime, you can score these sweet little flip flops at a myriad of online retailers - many highlighted in the set below.

Craving On The Cheap: Foray Into Forever21
Hey all! So...it's pretty easy to get caught up in the cheap fare at Forever21. I do, so I get it. You get the shiny ball syndrome, but with uber trendy clothing. And while I (and probably many of you) don't expect their pieces to last more than a season or two, it's always nice to pick up a few super trendy pieces to bolster a solid wardrobe.

Currently Craving: Birthday Goods
Hellllllo out there!
So, as many of you will soon find out, my birthday is just nine days away. And, yes, I am that kind of person who celebrates their birthday to the nth degree. Really, as my dad will tell you, it's my birthday month. I say this because his birthday is only two days before mine. Dad celebrates his birthday all month long, too.
In anticipation of my big day on May 27, I wanted to share a few things I've been craving. My mother knows some of these - she asked me for a list just yesterday and I felt compelled to point her in the right direction. I mean, let's be real, do I need any of these items? Absolutely not. But who the hell wants to put super boring things they need on their birthday list? Not me.
My favorite gifts to give and receive are those that the birthday guy/girl would never buy for themselves. Oh - and dear husband, if you're going to order a gift for me that you can only find online, I suggest you order it soon. Love you!
On to my current cravings...
1) Tolani Mosaic Tunic, Pink: Pretty, light-weight and airy. Perfect for the insanely hot summer that is North Carolina.
2) Sam Edelman Gigi Sandal, Leopard: I have these babies in yellow and I adore them. Rrrrrrarrrr to the leopard print.
3) Seychelles Joan Sandal, Off White: Such a sweet little wedge for summer. Flower power, baby.
4) JJ Winters Envelope Clutch, Iris #1: The crazy, graphic print on this bag makes me dizzy. And I like it.
5) Pour La Victoire Tarissa Sandals, Cognac: Le sigh. I have been watching these sandals on shopbop for some time now and their price point hasn't budged. At $290 they are pricey little buggers (especially for a trendy sandal), but they are lovely.
6) DVF Justin Wrap Dress: I've always wanted my very own, classic DVF wrap dress. This print is a bit more punchy than I would typically choose but it's still fun. No one crafts a wrap dress like Ms. DVF.
