Currently Craving: Pale Pink

A few weeks back I caved into a spring trend and purchased a pair of pale pink skinnies. Why? Well, I thought they were pretty. And I'm really diggin' the pale pink and blush tones.

I've never been the "I love pink everywhere, all the time, let's swim in pinky tones" kinda girl. However, I really think I can get some mileage out of my light pink denim. Want to jump on the pale pink skinny bandwagon? My advice: Don't buy them too tight. This color is just a few shades off of white...and no one needs to be sporting uber tight, light colored pantalones. I don't care how sweet your legs are.

Even beyond the denim, pale pink is poppin' up everywhere. My next crush is a sheer, pale pink or blush bow blouse....

What do you think of pink for spring?

Currently Craving: Fall Fashion List

I love lists. All sorts of lists. To-do lists. Grocery lists. And my most favorite, the fall shopping list.

Since it's September, I feel comfortable moving forward with what I'm currently craving for fall. I've kept it to just five items (for now) so my poor husband doesn't a) have a heart attack and b) hide my credit cards.

1) Kick ass booties: I'm looking for something with a bit of edge and/or hardware. Must be leather so I can beat the crap out of it and have some staying power. i.e. not super duper trendy, but not simplistic either. I'm pretty partial to the Ash booties shown in the set below...

2) Cozy sweaters: Space dyed, nubby wools, sweaters and overall cozy coziness. I'm already craving them and it's still 85 degrees in Charlotte.

3) Ladylike blouses: Soft, feminine blouses that I can tuck into my super flared denim or sport loosely or belted with a pair of skinnies and boots.

4) Red pants: As I mentioned in prior posts, I want me some red pants. Skinnies, flare, wide leg, whatever. I like 'em all.

5) Chunky boot socks: It's a super affordable purchase (you're welcome, husband) but I'm really looking forward to stacking these thick socks over skinnies and under boots, peeking out just at the top.

So, that's my (abbreviated) fall fashion list. What's on your short list?

Cubicle to Cocktails: Surely Sheerly

Hi all!

I think Cubicle to Cocktails might be my most interesting, yet challenging, post during the week. Why, you ask? Well, finding clothing that is a) work appropriate, b) stylish, c) affordable and d) versatile, can be quite difficult. I try to pick items that many of may have in your closet and try (emphasis here) to use them in new ways. Aka - I really do put thought into these looks!

I think many of you may have some type of sheer tie/bow top somewhere in your closet. I like this one from ASOS because the bow can be tied in many ways. For the work look, I kept it pretty conservative, i.e. banker friendly (I use banker b/c Charlotte has oh-so-many financial institutions), but for the cocktails look, I would prefer the shirt untucked and untied - a la Aerosmith style. That is, minus the crazy scarf around a microphone. By loosening up the shirt (literally), I find the look much more casual and boho chic. Throw on a bright, beaded bib necklace (hello alliteration) and you are hot to trot.

Do you like the versatility of these pieces?

Is the work look too timid for you or just right for your office?
